Budget
Our current budget runs from 1 April 2024 to 31 March 2025, details of the financial plan agreed can be found online.
Around 80% of our funding comes from the Scottish Government and 20% is raised through Council Tax. There are two budgets - Revenue and Capital.
Revenue is the day-to-day running costs used to provide services and includes salary and wage costs, property costs, supplies and services, administration costs, interest payments and repayment of debts.
Capital is what we spend on our council-owned buildings, assets infrastructure.
Draft revenue and capital budget proposals for 2025/26 have been developed by a cross-party group of Councillors. The draft financial plan will be considered at a meeting of full Council on Thursday 20 February. The agenda can be viewed at Agenda for Scottish Borders Council on Thursday, 20th February, 2025, 10.00 am - Scottish Borders Council
