Why do we need your information?
We need your personal information to allow us to process your request which could be to:
- report a dog fouling incident
- request a clean up of dog fouling
- request educational materials
What types of information we are collecting from you
We may be required to collect personal information from you, in order to process your request. The personal data we will collect from you is your:

- phone number
- address
Anonymous reports will also be allowed if you are only requesting a clean up.
This information can be provided directly by a member of the public, by using our online contact form, or alternatively you can contact Customer Advice and Support for assistance from a member of staff.
If you would like to fully track your enquiry, you will be required to have a MyScotBorders account which gathers your:
- first name
- last name
- email address
- phone number
This is not required to complete the form.
How we will use your information
We also use your information to verify your identity where required, contact you by post, email or telephone and to maintain our records.
We will also use your personal information to keep you updated on the progress on your enquiry. We are collecting and using this information for the performance of a task which is carried out in the public interest.
Who we may share your information with
Your information will be accessed by our staff who need to use it in order to provide the service described above. If you do not provide us with the information we have asked for then we may not be able to provide this service to you.
We are also legally obliged to share certain data with other public bodies, such as Police Scotland and will do so where the law requires this. We will also generally comply with requests for specific information from other regulatory and law enforcement bodies where this is necessary and appropriate.
Your information may be shared and analysed internally in order to provide management information, inform service delivery reform and similar purposes to meet our duty to achieve best value and continuous service improvement.
Decision Making
We do not use automated decision-making processes. Some processes are semi-automated (such as anti-fraud data matching) but a human decision maker will always be involved before any decision is reached in relation to you.
