Construction is set to begin on a brand-new skate park and pump track facility in Jedburgh next week

Starting from Monday (1 July), initial site preparation will be undertaken before full construction work starts three weeks later, on Monday 22 July. The project is expected to be finished by late October.

During this period the site will be fenced off and access to the site will be obtained using temporary tracking from Old Bridge End for construction purposes.

What to expect

Included in the facility is a state-of-the-art asphalt pump track delivered by contractor Velosolutions who have delivered over 700 pump tracks globally, including the Ormiston and Hawick Pump Tracks. The park will also incorporate and link to a concrete skatepark street course delivered by Betongpark, who are recognised as one of Europe’s industry leaders in skatepark design and construction. The facility will include floodlighting to enable safe year-round use of the park.

The park has been funded as part of our Capital Programme for Play Areas and Community Outdoor Spaces.

The prioritised capital investment programme was agreed for the period 2022-2029 with play facility upgrades being planned in consultation with communities across a range of sites.

It will see an investment of almost £5 million to enhance these facilities for current and future generations, providing significant play opportunities for all.

Carol Cooke, Parks and Environment Manager

“We are excited for the local community of Jedburgh that this long-awaited project is now progressing to construction.

“Residents of Jedburgh have waited patiently for this facility to become a reality, but the wait is nearly over. I am sure this state-of-the-art Skate Park and Pump Track will prove to be a facility they can be proud of.

“We would like to reassure residents of Jedburgh that the ongoing works will not impact events taking place during the Jethart Callant’s Festival throughout July.”
