Tweeddale is the second largest of the five area partnerships in Scottish Borders, in terms of its land area and its population. In 2021 the estimated population of Tweeddale was 20,771. Download a map of the Tweeddale area.
The main town in Tweeddale is Peebles, with a 2021 population of 8,581. Other towns and villages in Tweeddale with a population of 500 or more are:

26.9% of the population of Tweeddale (5,548 people) live in settlements of under 500 people.
It should be noted that Clovenfords has a population of around 500 people but unfortunately does not receive an annual update, due to an issue with the enumeration boundaries (datazone geography) used to count the population statistics.

Population Change
The population of Tweeddale steadily increased between 2011 and 2019 at a rate of 6.2%.
Population growth was particularly buoyant in West Linton, Innerleithen and on the outskirts of Peebles and the larger villages.
The only village not to benefit from this population boom was Walkerburn, whose population remained static.
