Community benefits aim to support the pursuance of Best Value and Sustainable Procurement through the delivery of social, economic and environmental benefits contributing to community wellbeing.
Our Adding Value to Communities through Community Benefits Policy ensures that additional benefits are considered when delivering construction works, service or supplies contracts.
The delivery of additional benefit beyond the core purpose of a contract opportunity can help to maximise the impact of public sector spending on local communities. This is achieved through the inclusion of specific clauses within contracts known as Community Benefit Clauses (CBCs).
We consider the inclusion of CBC’s for all contracts and aims to add value through the delivery of:
-apprenticeship and other employment opportunities
-work experience and training opportunities
-supply chain opportunities for local business
-school and community engagement and support activities
