Review of Polling Districts and Polling Places - Consultations

Summary details
We are undertaking a review of polling districts and polling places for use in connection with parliamentary and local elections.

The aim of the Review is to ensure:
All electors in the Scottish Borders have reasonable facilities for voting as are practical in the circumstances.

So far as is reasonable and practical, every polling place for which we are responsible is accessible to electors who are disabled.

We would like to receive comments from electors on these issues, in particular comments on the suitability of current polling stations and suggestions for possible alternatives. We would welcome comments from any person or body with expertise in access for persons with any type of disability. The views of the Returning Officer will also be sought. Comments should be made online using the form below. If you would prefer to write comments, please send to: the Head of Corporate Governance at the address below.

Further information, including details of existing polling stations and maps of polling districts, can be inspected during normal office hours at the Democratic Services Section, Council Headquarters, Newtown St. Boswells, Melrose, TD6 0SA or you can contact Louise McGeoch by phone on 01835 825005. It is proposed that the review be completed to allow any amendments to be incorporated in the Register of Electors to be published on 10 March 2014.

Details of all representations received will be made available for inspection.
