Please could you provide the following information: 1. Please advise why a handrail is installed on the pavement of Yarrow Terrace, A707, Selkirk, which has a height difference of 21cm from the road to pavement.
2. Please advise why a handrail is not installed on Wood Street, Galashiels, which measures 17cm from the road to pavement.
3. Please provide the risk assessment for Yarrow Terrace, A707, Selkirk.
4. Please provide the risk assessment for Wood Street, Galashiels.
Response
1. This is to give additional visual delineation of the road edge to motor vehicles, where there is minimal upstand on the in-situ roadside kerb and a level difference to the rear.
2. The upstand on the roadside kerb is of sufficient height to provide a visual delineation of the road edge to motor vehicles.
