1. Can the Council confirm they have issued staff guidance over the use of pronouns in social media profiles/email signatures?2. If the answer to question one is yes, can the Council provide the guidance issued to staff.

Please see response below:1 . No.1. The guidance on e-mail signatures in the Acceptable Use policy is as follows:
1.1.1. Auto Signature
1) Auto signatures should include the following information:
* Name
* Title
* Scottish Borders Council
* Address
* Telephone number
* Fax number (if appropriate)
* Email address
* Website link provided below.
2) The auto signature should be in black 11pt Arial, with no formatting (bold, italics, etc.).
3) The use of electronic signatures or logos is not authorised.
4) The use of “green” or any other messages is not authorised unless it includes a relevant handling note.
5) If there is a need to include a corporate message on outgoing e-mails, this will be agreed by the Corporate Communications Manager and the Head of Business and Technology Solutions. The IT team will incorporate the message so that it appears on all outgoing e-mails (staff will not be required to alter their auto signature).
