Request or Question: Please can you provide me with the following information:1.) How much has the council spent on purchasing mobile phones in the last 3 years, please break this down between handsets and data plans?2.) How much has the council spent on purchasing iPads and other tablet type devices in the last 3 years, please break this down between devices and data plans?
Response: 1) From our records we are able to provide the amount spent allocated to the coded “mobile telephones” but we are unable to breakdown between handset and data plans. With over 40,000 entries against “mobile telephones” Scottish Borders Council has considered your request and concluded that the cost of complying with it would be more than £600. Under S12 (1) of FOISA 2002 Scottish Borders Council is not obliged to comply with a request that is estimated to exceed this cost.

In addition to the above within 2020/21 we are able to identify a purchase of mobile handsets only costing £450,119

2) Scottish Borders Council has spent £1,464,705 on purchasing iPads, excluding any devices that are leased, None of these devices have any data plans.
