Request or Question: I am writing to request some information under the Freedom of Information Act.Can I please have the following information for each of the following calendar years: 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021. For 2021 can I please have the information for the period from 1 January to 31 August.1. How many dogs entered pounds (also known as kennels or animal shelters) in your area?
2. How many of these dogs were euthanised?
3. For each dog that was euthanised, can you provide the reason?
And if possible within the cost threshold, can you also provide the following information for each of these calendar years:
4. How many were reclaimed by their owners?
5. How many were passed to a welfare organisation?
6. How many were rehomed?
Please can you break down the figures for each calendar year.
Response: 1. 2018 – 28 dogs were collected as strays and taken to kennels.
2019 – 13 dogs were collected as strays and taken to kennels.
2020 – 13 dogs were collected as strays and taken to kennels.
2021 (1 Jan – 31 Aug) – 2 dogs were collected as strays and taken to kennels.

2. No dogs were euthanised between 1 January 2018 and 31 August 2021.

4. 2018 – 21 dogs were reclaimed by their owner.
2019 – 11 dogs were reclaimed by their owner.
2020 – 10 dogs were reclaimed by their owner.
2021 (1 Jan – 31 Aug) – 1 dog was reclaimed by its owner.

5. 2018 – 7 dogs were passed to a welfare organisation.
2019 – 2 dogs were passed to a welfare organisation.
2020 – 3 dogs were passed to a welfare organisation.
2021 (1 Jan – 31 Aug) – 1 dog was passed to a welfare organisation.

6. No dogs were rehomed between 1 January 2018 and 31 August 2021.
