Request or Question: I am writing to you under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 and the Freedom of Information Act 2000 to request the following information regarding the number unemployed teachers in the area. Please provide me with:1)How many teachers (both primary and secondary) within the local authority area a) were not employed in a teaching post at the beginning of the 2021/22 term, and b) are presently not employed in a teaching post.2)The total number of teachers (both primary and secondary) presently employed within the local authority area.
Response: Q1 - Unfortunately Scottish Borders Council do not hold the information you have requested. Therefore we give notice under s17 of FOI(S)A 2002 and declare that the information is not held.Q2 – Headcount of teaching staff as at 17/11/2021 = 974. This figure excludes casual staff and is based on the employee's main post holding. I have excluded Head/Depute head Teachers and Principal teachers from this count.
