We are unable to identify the number of unsuccessful application by means of reporting as only successful applications are processed within our Clothing Grant system.   We would have to manually view all paper/electronic filing to identify all applications, including those made within Housing Benefit and/or Council Tax Reduction applications and match that to our Clothing Grant System.  The cost of investigating this would exceed the prescribed limits therefore this part of your request is refused under Section 12 of the Freedom of Information Act Scotland 2002.

Exceptional Requests:-
55 exceptional requests have been made for help with school clothing, over and above the amount set by the local authority.  Some requests have come from parents who are in receipt of clothing grant however most schools offer preloved clothes to families and not just uniform.  This is invariably the schools taking the initiative rather than a response to 'exceptional requests' in the wording of the FOI.
