This FOI concerns the process by which prospective teachers in Catholic schools must gain approval from the local diocese. In order to understand the current situation I would like to request the following information. 1. In the last ten years, how many teachers have had requests for diocesan approval initially rejected with respect to promoted posts in secondary schools
2. How many of these rejections were overturned following an appeal process?
3. Where appeals were unsuccessful, what alternative employment was offered by the council? (NB this need not provide identifying information such as a school name - confirming that someone whose request was rejected was, for example, transferred to an equivalent post in another school would be fine)

1. Zero, Scottish Borders Council do not have Catholic Secondary Schools.
