Request or Question: I am emailing under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 and would be very grateful for your assistance with the request below. Can you share how many public toilets were operation in your local authority area in the years 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 respectively? If possible, I would be grateful if you could also share a breakdown of standard/ accessible/ changing places toilets as part of this.
Response: 2018 - 412019 - 412020 - 41 at start of year. All closed during initial Covid lockdown with 16 reopening in July.
2021 - 16 increased to 26 during the year. Continued with reduced number due to ongoing pandemic situation but increased the number reopened as situation improved.
2022 - 26 currently.
Of the 41 units managed, 5 have only standard facilities and 36 have accessible facilities. There are no Changing Places Toilets as would be defined.
Of the 26 currently open, 2 have only standard facilities and 24 have accessible facilities.
