I am writing to you under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 to request the following information from Scottish Borders Council.Please could you confirm how many households pay Council Tax to the local authority and how many of these do not pay by Direct Debit?If it is not possible to provide the information requested due to the information exceeding the cost of compliance limits identified in Section 12, please provide advice and assistance, under the Section 16 obligations of the Act, as to how I can refine my request.If you can identify any ways that my request could be refined, please provide further advice and assistance to indicate this.
Response
Based on our records as at 23 March 2022, I can confirm that we have 59,291 open Council Tax accounts on our database and of these, 13,725 do not currently pay by Direct Debit.
