Request or Question: I would like to make an FOI regarding what assessment SBC has carried out to allow the Vertish Hill Sports in Hawick (held annually in June) to take place.I would like to know if any assessment has been done on equal rights with regards to boys and girls being divided during the procession, girls not being allowed to participate in the sack race and boys not being allowed to participate in the egg and spoon and skipping races.Also has SBC confirmed that the men organising the event possess the right level of Disclosure as the event is for children?Has SBC confirmed that they are conducting themselves legally regarding media permission (no indication of anything being signed or opting out option even though images are shared on social media and the papers)?
Has SBC confirmed that not allowing children to take part if they are not 'clean and tidy' and paying the children £3 to take part in the procession is legal?
Has SBC conducted and Health and Safety Assessment for the event?
Response: Scottish Borders Council does not hold the information requested. The Council has no involvement in this event and therefore we refer to S17 of FOI(S)A 2002 and declare that the information is not held.
