Request or Question: Under FOI I would please like to request the following: 1-Will the local authority be using the powers described in the Transport (Scotland) 2019 Act relating to the establishment of local bus services?2-If yes, what model will the local authority be employing?
Response: Scottish Borders Council welcomes the new powers incorporated into the Transport (Scotland) act 2019.
At this juncture, the council are conducting a full review of local bus services across the Scottish Borders.
As we move through the review, the council will consider all the powers available through the 2019 act including partnership working, to ensure that the future bus network meets the needs of the communities it serves through improved accessibility, integrated ticketing and links into active travel and other modes of transport.
