Scottish Borders Council have 746 artworks, 486 of these are paintings.
These permanent collections are owned by the Council and managed on our behalf by the Live Borders Culture and Leisure trust. We therefore give notice of S17 of FOI(S)A 2002 and declare this information is not held by Scottish Borders Council Information

The estimated value of artefacts and artworks for insurance purposes is £4.017m of which £3.553m (or 88.5%) are on public display. That valuation refers to the Council’s permanent collections managed on its behalf by Live Borders.

Scottish Borders Council have commissioned the following public artworks in relation to Hawick Flood Protection Scheme,
In summary, the Hawick Flood Protection Scheme has committed the below costs to public artworks.
1. Etched Glazing Panels in WS1,2,9,10,21,22,23,25,26,27,28,29 and 30 (45no in total). c£30k Design. c£360k material/construction. TOTAL £390k.
2. Bill McLaren ‘Borders Burn’ Quote on Commercial Rd wall at North Bridge. CE-154 agreed for bespoke Reckli concrete formwork for quotation lettering £9,394.
3. Wittergate installation at the Common Haugh. Design and Installation included in the below artist PO’s.
4. Project Artist - We’ve raised 3 x PO’s to date for the scheme’s project artist, to develop artwork designs relating to ALL three artwork installations, which are;
* 600043230 – Total paid on PO - £8,600.00
* 600077709 – Total paid on PO - £8,655.54
* 600108367 – Total paid on PO - £5,043.91
TOTAL £22,299.45
TOTAL cost of HFPS public artwork installations is therefore - £421,693.45.
Applying the scheme funding split of 80/20 (Scottish Government/SBC) this would give us an approx. value of £84,338.69 which the Council has allocated to public artwork on HFPS.
