Response
Yes, we provide Shared Lives placements for adults with learning disabilities.
In 2023/24 we estimate financial savings to be negligible, c. £3,000 in total. However, by placing clients in the Shared Lives programme, we estimate to avoid standard client community based support costs of c. £536k. There is currently no available information on savings in relation to the integrating of services between the council and the NHS. Integration is achieved through various means and models of delivery which is an on-going process. The Council has no plans to use HCRG Care Group to commission services. The vast majority of commissioning is done through the council. There are some examples of joint commissioning between the council and the NHS Board but these are relatively small scale. The are currently plans to develop a commissioning framework which will map and review all commissioning and these processes will inevitably identify potential opportunity for efficiencies. The Council does not commission the British Red Cross to provide home care services and have no plans to do so. All care at home provision in the Borders is about to be reviewed and redesigned this will include both our internal provision and the provision delivered through external partners. This project is too early in its existence to be able to illustrate potential savings. 1316 clients for 2022/23. None with Argenti care and no financial savings associated with. The Council have not provided social care services users with GenieConnect "personalised reminders" from Service Robotics. The Council do not provide AI powered ceiling lamps to social care service users. The Council have no plans at present to make use of robotics/AI/new technology to reduce the risk of falls and otherwise improve the standard of care. We have been using electronic case recording in social work for many years as part of our business as usual.
