1. What action is the council taking to support schools to address increasing levels of pupil absence?2. How many education welfare officers have been employed in each of the past ten years?

b. Which schools, if any, employ full time Principal Teachers of Guidance/Pupil Support, i.e. those who are not timetabled to teach a subject other than PSE?
c. How many pupils, broken down by year of schooling (ie P1 – S4), are on a reduced timetable?
d. How many substantive and permanent Principal Teacher of Curriculum/Subject posts have there been in each of the local authority’s secondary schools?

Response
1. What action is the council taking to support schools to address increasing levels of pupil absence?
Updated Attendance Policy to support attendance.

2. How many education welfare officers have been employed in each of the past ten years?
The Council do not employ welfare officers.

3. How many attendance/ truancy officers have been employed in each of the past ten years?
The Council do not employ truancy officers.

Pastoral support assistants – we only have this specific post title available since 2021-22 tax year therefore for previous years we give notice under s17 of FOI(S)A 2002 and declare that the information is not held.

Period by period registration on SEEMIS

See attached for Secondary Schools

As all primary schools have less than 5 pupils on a reduced timetable, we have taken the decision not to release information where numbers are 5 or below. This is because by releasing this information could potentially identify individuals. Therefore, we are relying on section 38(1)(b) of FOI(S)A 2002.

d. How many substantive and permanent Principal Teacher of Curriculum/Subject posts have there been in each of the local authority’s secondary schools?

6. Has any review or analysis of its Guidance/Pupil Support structure and/or provision?
Majority of secondary schools have done this and continue to do so to best meet the needs of children, young people and families.

7. How many secondaries timetable computing or digital literacy as a subject to all pupils in S1. How many do not?

We are unable to provide a history of vacant posts, our BW system only generates information as a snapshot at today’s date. However, I have provided information below on the number of advertised vacancies we had over the 10 year period with post title to include computer/computing.
