Dear Community Councils,

We are contacting you on behalf of Hawick Town Team.

Our local community has prepared a proposed Local Place Plan for Hawick.

To comply with Section 4 of the Town and Country Planning (Local Place Plans) (Scotland) Regulations 2021, we are legally required to send each Community Council whose area is wholly or partly within our Local Place Plan area, or adjoins it, the information below. This email constitutes the ‘Information Notice’ to local Community Councils required by those Regulations.

This Information Notice is therefore being sent to the following Community Councils: Hawick, Burnfoot, Denholm and District, Lilliesleaf, Ashkirk, and Midlem, and Upper Teviotdale & Borthwick Water Community Councils.

The proposed Local Place Plan covers the area of Hawick CC and Burnfoot CC areas and contains proposals for making Hawick a better place to live, work and visit by identifying community priorities determined from public consultation, by adopting projects under the following themes:

Connected & Collaborative

Interesting & Proud

Vibrant Healthy & Happy

Sustainable & Prosperous

The purpose of our proposed Local Place Plan is to utilise our community’s vision for the future of Hawick. Furthermore, we seek to use the strengths of that community to realise the Place Plan towards providing a more prosperous, healthy and happy future for all the people of Hawick. This will be achieved by attracting Borderlands and alternative funding to make this a reality.
