A range of free period products are now available at venues across the Borders.
They're being provided as part of our commitment to ending the stigma around period poverty.
Our aim is to make the products available to everyone who needs them, whether you’re picking them up for yourself or on behalf of someone else.
Available across the Borders
Products can be accessed at the following venues:
- all council operated buildings e.g. contact centres and offices
- Live Borders sites e.g. leisure centres, libraries and community centres
- primary and secondary schools (for pupils and staff)
- local food banks
- homelessness accommodation settings
A detailed listing can be found in our Directory of Venues.
Choose from a range of products
We offer a range of products such as sanitary pads, tampons, reusable cups and pants.
Please take what you need. Stocks are refilled regularly.
If you can't find what you’re looking for, ask at reception where staff will be happy to help.
Who’s eligible for the products?
Anyone who needs them – you won’t be asked for any proof of identity or income details. Our products are available at no cost to all residents and those who work in or visit the Borders.
Why is providing free products important?
As well as helping to end period poverty and supporting people on low incomes, making free products available gives peace of mind to anyone who has periods. The knowledge that they are there in case you forget them, or start unexpectedly, can be very reassuring.
It also helps promote equality, as it’s mainly women and girls who have to bear the cost for a biological process that they cannot control.
