Paying by direct debit is a safe and convenient way to pay your Council Tax. Almost 70% of people already pay by direct debit. You could set up and manage your direct debit yourself simply by logging into our Council Tax online system.
Before completing the form have the following information available:
- Bank or building society sort code and account number
- An email address or contact number
Also think about when you want to pay :
- monthly in 10 or 12 instalments on 1, 5, 15 or 25 of the month
- weekly
- in a single payment on first of the month following receipt of your completed direct debit mandate
How to set up your account
If you’d like to set up a direct debit and see your Council Tax account online you need to to take a few steps to set up your MyScotBorders account if you don’t already have one. You can do that in a few minutes by registering here.
Once you have signed in to your MyScotBorders account you can link your Council Tax account by clicking on 'View Council Tax', where you will be given the option to register to use additional Council Tax services.
You will be asked to enter the following information, which you’ll find on your annual Council Tax bill:
- Your name
- Council Tax account number
- Online reference number
- Postcode
If you have already signed up to view your Council Tax online, you should sign in now using your MyScotBorders account.
