Disabled persons' parking places

Disabled Persons Parking Places Order - 2025 Proposed Amendment

About

A proposed amendment has been made in 2025 to the The Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 relating to disabled persons' parking places in the Scottish Borders.

As part of the legal process to formalise on-street disabled parking bays the Council is required to advertise the addition and removal of disabled persons parking bays since the most recent review in 2020.

Maps and plans of the proposed changes can be accessed here or by visiting your local contact centre to view the plans.

Objections

Any person wishing to object to the proposed Order should send details of the grounds of objection in writing to the Director of Corporate Governance, The Scottish Borders Council, Council Headquarters, Newtown St Boswells, Melrose, TD6 0SA or legal@scotborders.gov.uk by 14 March 2025.

It is worth noting that the only objections that will be considered valid are those based on the location of the bays on road safety and traffic management grounds.

This is not an opportunity to object or comment on the entitlement or validity of the awarding of a disabled bay or Blue Badge and these objections will not be considered.
