Residents, organisations and businesses along the Berwickshire coast and those with an interest in the coastline and environment are encouraged to drop-in to an event in Eyemouth next week.
Between 11am and 7pm on Tuesday 27 February a drop-in event will take place at the Hippodrome, Harbour Road to provide information and gather views as part of a coastal change adaptation consultation which will open on Saturday 24 February.
Coastline management
The consultation is being progressed as part of the coastal change adaptation guidance developed by the Scottish Government, and will help determine how our coast will be managed in the future and how this informs related policies. The feedback from those who live, work, and visit the coast is critical to this process.
The consultation will run for a period of four weeks from Saturday 24 February 2024 to Saturday 23 March and will be available online from the 24th.
Councillor Jenny Linehan, Executive Member for Environment and Transport
“This process is being replicated around Scotland and the input of the public will help to shape local and national policies and projects.
“This is needed because climate change, flooding and coastal erosion is impacting on and changing our coastline and coastal communities and we need to ensure we are responsive to those changes.”
