Translated versions of Improving Cancer Journey survey now available

HSCP consultations

The Health and Social Care Partnership is providing translated versions of the consultation being undertaken as part of the development of a Macmillan Improving the Cancer Journey (ICJ) service.

The survey is being made available in Polish and Ukrainian with the aim of gathering the views of local people from these communities who have a lived experience of cancer, as well as their families and carers.

An easy-read version is also available for people with a learning disability to enable them to have their say.

The ICJ service is being progressed in partnership with Scottish Borders Council and NHS Borders. It will offer people an appointment with an ICJ Worker to complete a holistic assessment to discuss ‘what matters to you’ in their cancer journey.

The aim is to help those affected by cancer to access appropriate sources of support for all their non-clinical needs – physical, practical, emotional, family or spiritual. It will build on services already provided through NHS Borders, such as a holistic approach to care planning through Single Point of Contact.

Councillor Tom Weatherston, Executive Member for Social Work and Community Enhancement

“Following on from the response to the initial survey held earlier this year, the Partnership is keen to get the views of people who otherwise might have been unable to take part.

“The feedback received so far has been extremely helpful but to have this additional input will give us an even broader picture and help us develop a service that will best serve all those among us who have had a cancer diagnosis, along with their families and carers.”
