A new section of the River Tweed Trail will be temporarily available for walkers, wheelers and cyclists to make use of over the Christmas holiday period.
Gytes to Priorsford Bridge section opens temporarily
The new section from the Gytes to Priorsford Bridge is part of the wider 113-mile River Tweed Trail starting in Moffat, passing the source of the River Tweed to Berwick Upon Tweed where the river meets the sea.
Following a successful visit to the new section of path in Peebles, local Councillors Drummond Begg, Viv Thomson and Eric Small are pleased to announce that from 21 December the path will temporary open allowing residents and those visiting the area to use the facility over the festive period.
The path will close again on 5 January to allow works to continue, the path is scheduled to be fully completed by the end of January 2025.
Destination Tweed Project Director, Luke Fisher:
“The River Tweed Trail is being created for the benefit of both visitors to the region and local people and we’re delighted that the work on this section is at the stage where it can be temporarily opened for everyone to enjoy over the festive season.”
