Eyemouth Primary School Nursery acknowledged as ‘very good’ by Care Inspectorate

Published: 11th February 2025

Eyemouth Primary School Nursery has been awarded Grade 5 (Very Good) and Grade 6 (Excellent) ratings from the Care Inspectorate, in a report published this week.

The positive report is the result of an unannounced inspection which took place on 14 January 2025, when the Inspector observed practice, interactions, and daily experiences for children, and spoke with children, parents and the staff and leadership team of the nursery.

Key highlights noted in the report include:

  • The leadership team and staff group promoted high aspirations for the children and families using the setting.
  • Children were happy, confident, and having fun.
  • Opportunities for play and learning were well planned and contributed positively to children's learning and enjoyment.
  • Indoor and outdoor environments were arranged to ensure children's comfort, safety, and security.
  • Excellent systems for self-evaluation impacted positively on the continuous improvement of the setting and outcomes for children.
  • Excellent staff deployment ensured optimal staffing levels, maximising children's opportunities for engagement and learning and development

From the inspection, the Care Inspectorate evaluated the service as Grade 5 “Very Good” in relation to “How good is our care, play and learning” and “How good is our setting”, and Grade 6 “Excellent” in both “How good is our Leadership” and “our Staff team”.

Headteacher of Eyemouth Primary School and Nursery, Ross Maunder, said:

“We are absolutely delighted with the findings of this inspection report, which truly reflect the dedication, passion, and hard work of our incredible team at Eyemouth Primary School Nursery.
