Appealing a parking charge notice
To appeal a parking charge notice issued by us for parking in a pay and display car park, write to us within 10 days giving the details including:
- the 10 digit reference number from the charge notice
- your car registation number
You can email this to roadsafety@scotborders.gov.uk or send a letter to:

You should appeal within 10 days, however, we will accept appeals at any point up to when we contact the DVLA for vehicle owner details.
Allow up to two weeks to receive a response to an appeal.
You should not pay the parking charge if you are appealling.
If your appeal fails you will be given a further 10 days from the date of the letter telling you that your appeal has failed to pay at the reduced rate, after 10 days you will need to pay the full amount.
