Colleagues,
New PPE Champions are being introduced in all SB Cares services to support:
- the ongoing COVID-19 response and recovery effort
- the requirement for staff to keep up to date with the use of PPE and infection control measures.
From Monday 21 December, each team will have access to at least two trained PPE Champions whose role it will be to:
- Ensure everyone in their team is aware of and adhering to the correct information/current guidance regarding PPE.
- Provide ongoing training to staff in the correct use of PPE – donning, doffing and disposal.
- Carry out regular audits as well as spot checks to ensure staff are meeting requirements. Learning and actions resulting from these audits will be shared and used to improve practice across the services via the Champion’s resource packs and our overall COVID-19 Protocol.
- Advise when changes to the COVID-19 protocol are required in response to updated/new guidance.
- Challenge non-compliance and address/escalate as appropriate.
- Be a first point of contact for staff questions and concerns.
- Participate in twice weekly drop in Teams sessions.
A list of PPE Champions has been sent by email. Please speak to your line manager if you haven't received this or require more information.
Twice-weekly Teams drop-in sessions
- We are also setting up twice-weekly Teams meetings which staff can access to discuss current guidance and raise any queries or concerns you may have.
- Managers are being asked to make sure you know when these sessions are happening and to make every effort to facilitate your attendance wherever possible.
- The sessions will last for 30 minutes and will be available from Friday 18 December:
- Every Tuesday from 3-3.30pm
- Every Friday from 10-10.30am
Links to the drop-in sessions have been sent by email. Again, please speak to your line manager if you need help to access these.
We hope you find our new PPE Champions and access to the drop-in sessions useful. My thanks to those who volunteered to take up the roles and as always, to all of you for your ongoing hard work and commitment as we work together to prevent the spread of the virus within our services.
Regards,
Jen Holland
