Recycle on the go
We have installed 97 Recycle on the Go bins in towns and villages across the Borders. This has been done with funding from Zero Waste Scotland.
What you can recycle
The new recycling bins are for:
- plastic bottles and their lids, empty
- drinks cans
- paper
- card
- clean cardboard food packaging
But not for:
- food waste
- glass
- liquids
- dog waste
Recycle on the Go bins are available in:

Why have we installed Recycle on the Go bins?
New Waste (Scotland) Regulations, in effect since January 2014, are driving forward the need to recycle even more and reduce the amount of waste being sent to landfill.
Previously items such as plastic bottles might have gone in a litter bin and been sent to landfill. On street recycling bins will give you the opportunity to ensure waste will be recycled when you're out and about.
