How much is the clothing grant?

When will I receive my clothing grant payment?
To ensure you receive payment before the start of the school term you should apply as early as possible.
Applications assessed in July will be paid before the start on the school year.
Applications received after July will normally take around 2-3 weeks depending on the number of people applying at the time.
If your child is starting P1, S5 or S6 we’ll make their payment after the start of the school year because the school needs to confirm they’re attending school.
Can I get a clothing grant to help with the cost of buying clothes with the logo of the nursery my child goes to?
No, nurseries aren’t included in the scheme.
How will you pay me a clothing grant if I don’t have a bank account?
If your application is successful we will contact you to discuss how you will be paid.
Do I still have to apply if my child automatically qualifies for free school meals because they’re in P1 – P5?
You still need to make an application to be considered for a school clothing grant and for any other financial support the Scottish Government may issue during the school holidays.
Am I eligible for a Clothing Grant if I receive a Council Tax Discount/Disregard, e.g. Single Persons Discount?
No, you must be in receipt of Council Tax Reduction.
