Pilot details - Hawick
The areas and sites across Hawick detailed below will either receive extra cuts during the season or a reduced cutting regime and include the establishment of more naturalised areas.
Sites to receive an extra cut as and when required:
Cemeteries
- Wellogate cemetery - new section.
- Wilton cemetery - new section.
Play areas
- Moat Park
- Weensland Road
- Leaburn Drive
- Millers Knowes
- Wellfield Road
- Ruberslaw Road
Other greenspace sites
- Bright Street.
Sites which will include naturalised areas and receive a reduced cutting regime:
Cemeteries
- Wellogate cemetery - parts of the older section through the main entrance gates will be left to naturalise and will be cut and lifted at the end of the season. On the right-hand side, the rear and sides of the area will be left to naturalise with paths cut for access to newer graves towards the rear. Two open areas without any headstones will be left to naturalise. On the left-hand side, one open area without headstones will be left to naturalise.
- Wilton cemetery - some of the older sections through the main entrance will be left to naturalise with cutting carried out from the road to the second row of headstones on either side of the roadway. Cutting will be carried out to the perimeter of each of these sections and paths will also be cut to the war graves. All naturalised areas will be cut and lifted at the end of the season.
Other greenspace sites
- Waverley Walk - naturalised areas along the length of the walk.
- Fairhurst Drive playing field - the edge margin.
- Greenheads Terrace.
- Wellfield Road playing field - the back area under the trees.
- Brunton Park - the edge margin.
