The amount of Housing Benefit you can receive depends on the number of bedrooms you are entitled to. You get one bedroom for each of the following:
- A couple living together (married, unmarried, or same-sex in a civil partnership).
- Someone who is 16 or older.
- Two children of the same sex under 16.
- Two children under 10.
- A child under 16.
Additionally, you may get an extra bedroom if:
- A non-resident overnight carer is needed for the claimant, partner, or child (up to a maximum of four bedrooms for Local Housing Allowance).
- A household member cannot share a room due to a disability (up to a maximum of four bedrooms for Local Housing Allowance).
