Help paying Council Tax
Council Tax is payable in 10 monthly instalments from April to January, with extra payment dates available if you pay by direct debit. To help households who do not pay their Council Tax by direct debit, we are now able to extend the period that manual payments are made to over 12 months, meaning it will be payable from April to March.
If you would like to pay your Council Tax over 12 months, instead of 10, you should contact Customer Advice and Support Services by:
- online form
- phone: 0300 100 1800
More information on ways you may be able to reduce your Council Tax payments is available.
Struggling with paying for Council Tax or have Council Tax debt?
We're working with Citizens Advice, a free, confidential charity, to support people who are concerned about paying Council Tax or are worried about mounting debt.
They are able to look at maximising your income through Welfare benefits, explore options for dealing with debt and negotiate with creditors on your behalf. They support people at each stage and help people to make informed choices. For more information contact Citizens Advice.
