Registering and using a waste transfer station
Important notice for traders
There is new guidance for the storage and disposal of upholstered furniture which includes sofas, chairs and beanbags. Please visit our guidance page for more information relating specifically to traders.
From 15th July 2024 we are no longer able to accept upholstered domestic seating from traders at Eshiels and Hawick waste transfer stations. Visit this webpage for information on how traders can alternatively dispose of their upholstered domestic seating.
There are 3 waste transfer stations that you can take your waste to:
- Innerleithen Road, Eshiels, Peebles, EH45 8NA
- Langshaw Road, Easter Langlee, Galashiels, TD1 2NT
- Mansfield Road, Hawick, TD9 8AW
Waste transfer station charges depend on the amount and type of waste you deposit. You can find more information about our waste transfer stations.
Register to use a waste transfer station
To use our facilities you'll need to register at least one week before your first visit. As part of the registration you'll need to;
- Provide your Waste Carriers Licence or Professional Collectors & Transports of Waste Registration.
- complete and return the customer registration form one week prior to your first visit
Using our facilities
To access our waste transfer stations you'll need to bring your duty of care/waste transfer note. You'll also need to wear the appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) which includes:
- Gloves – BSEN 338
- High vis vest – EN204 712013 Class 2
- Boots with protective toe cap and midsole – ENISO 20345
At Easter Langlee, you must also wear:
- Hard hat – EN397 EN12899 1
- Safety goggles – EN166 1B
