National 4/5 applications of maths
The Applications of Mathematics course brings mathematics into the real world with finances, statistics and measurement.
Learners develop knowledge, understanding and skills that will enable them to apply mathematical ideas and strategies in real-life situations. These include managing finances, statistics, data and probability, geometry and measurement.
The aim is to equip learners with mathematical and statistical skills that support a range of curricular areas, including humanities, social sciences, health care, and business, as well as supporting them in everyday life and work.
How the course works
- Live online lessons will take place on school term time Thursday evenings between 6-9pm, starting Thursday 22 August 2024.
- The lessons will take place via a bespoke and secure ‘Saturday School Google Classroom’.
- Each student will be offered a weekly one-to-one support session with their tutor.
- Students will have the facility to post questions and seek support on a 24/7 basis.
- A wealth of digital learning materials, including access to quality learning platforms will be provided.
- Ongoing formative and summative assessment method will be used to track progress and attainment.
