Tied or job related accommodation
You may get a 50% discount on your council tax if you live in a property that is tied to your/your partners job and you have to live there or you have left a property unoccupied because you must live elsewhere as part of your/your partners job.
The discount may be applied to either property depending on your circumstances.
It must be a condition of you/your partners employment that you reside in the property to perform your duties and the accommodation must have been provided by the employer.
The following supporting documentation is required:
Employment contract/letter from employer confirming that the property was provided by your/your partners employer:
- For proper/better performances of duties or
- For security reasons or
- Are required to live in the property provided for their employment
Armed Forces
You may get a 50% discount on your council tax if your property has been left unoccupied as you now live in army accommodation. No discount is applicable where only part of the family has moved to army accommodation. You/your partner must also be paying Contribution in lieu of Council Tax (CILOCT) from your salary.
The following supporting documentation is required:
- A copy of the payslip showing the CILOCT deduction
- Proof from the relevant body that the address is a service property
