Coldingham Bay
Coldingham Sands is a sheltered sandy beach on the Berwickshire shore, a mile from Coldingham Village .
Awards and recommendations
It has been awarded the Seaside Award by Keep Scotland Beautiful and, recommended by the Marine Conservation Society, due to the beach's cleanliness, water quality and management.
The location
Situated within the St Abbs and Eyemouth Voluntary Marine Reserve, renowned for its abundance and diversity of marine life.
On-shore the Bay offers sand dunes and coastal grasslands which support flowers such as restharrow and butterflies such as the small copper.
Recreational activities
The Bay has attracted bathers for over a century due to its crystal clear waters and excellent water quality results.
The bay also offers excellent opportunity for:
- rock-pooling
- walking routes - including one of Scotland's Great Trails, the Berwickshire Coastal Path
- kayaking
- surfing

The Bay has approximately 60 beach hut sites that are all currently leased. At present there are no vacant sites. If any sites become available for lease, they will be advertised on this webpage and in the local press.
Directions
By Public transport
A regular bus service from Berwick-upon-Tweed (where there is a railway station) and passing through Eyemouth, stops at both Coldingham village and St Abbs village.
The beach is 1km South of St Abbs Village on the Berwickshire Coastal path. It can also be reached by walking 1km from Coldingham village.
By Car
Coldingham lies three miles east of the A1.
There is an unclassified road from Coldingham Village to Coldingham Bay.
There is a small car park opposite the beach and beach users walk down the short fairly steep access road to reach the beach.
Disabled access parking is available for two cars at the beach.
