Settlement Awards
Entry submissions
Following previous feedback received, 2025 will again see in-person judging for the Settlement Award category. If you wish to enter the Settlement Awards, please complete the relevant Settlement Award form by Friday 30th May 2025.
If you need documents in an alternative format or language, please send an email to the same address.
Along with the in-person judging for the Settlement Award, entrants can also submit supporting documents digitally or as paper copies before their judging date or if preferred, hand to the judge on the day of judging.
The criteria for the awards can be found within the guidelines document.
Digital files, such as images and videos, can be submitted in a variety of ways, including:
- As downloads through file transfer sites (WeTransfer for example)
- On a physical drive such as a USB stick
- As a link via YouTube, Facebook, Flickr page, website or any other similar platform
Judging
Judging for the 2025 settlement awards is proposed to take place between Monday 28th July and Friday 8th August.
Submissions will be assessed by an external judge through the in-person visit and any supporting documentation supplied, using the specific criteria for the award.
Awards format
Gold, Silver and Bronze certificates will be awarded across the following categories:
- Wee Village Award (maximum population of 300)
- Small Village Award (population between 301 and 1,000)
- Large Village Award (population between 1,001 and 2,500)
- Town Award (population over 2,500)
Each submission for the above will be assessed against three criteria:
- Horticultural Achievement
- Environmental Responsibility
- Community Involvement
A ‘Best in Category’ Award will also be presented for each category.

Awards Evening
An awards ceremony will be held in late September to celebrate all the projects, community groups and schools who participated in this year’s Greener Gateway Community Awards. Further details of this will be shared later this summer.
