Borderlands Inclusive Growth Deal
What is the Borderlands Inclusive Growth Deal?
The Borderlands Inclusive Growth Deal is a unique partnership between five local authorities working together to boost the economy and improve quality of life across the English-Scottish border. The councils involved are Carlisle City Council, Cumbria County Council, Dumfries and Galloway Council, Northumberland County Council and Scottish Borders Council.
Together, they form the Borderlands Partnership, which is focused on unlocking the region’s potential by supporting local businesses, creating jobs, improving infrastructure, and tackling long-standing social and economic challenges.
Place Programme
Four communities within the Scottish Borders have been identified as priority towns in the Borderlands Place Programme. They are Eyemouth, Galashiels, Hawick and Jedburgh. These towns have now all developed place plans.
The programme has funding of £7.2million available for these towns.
Following the successful development of their place plans, each community is now being supported to develop a town investment plan. This will cover the projects shortlisted for investment via the Place Programme in the place plans and outlines how these projects collectively achieve the aspirations of the community.
