Planning briefs

A planning brief summarises our broad vision and requirements for the development of a particular site or collection of sites. Planning briefs are written to guide developers, and usually cover issues such as:

  • development density
  • linkages to surrounding areas
  • suitable uses on the site
  • provision of open space and landscaping.

Planning briefs are normally produced for housing sites of a significant size or particularly sensitive sites which require detailed guidance.

Consultation

Consultation is a key step in producing planning guidance. We consult the public and other key local and national stakeholders on all draft guidance documents.
