Previous FAQs

What facilities will be available for community to use?

The sports facilities at the new campus will be amongst the best in the Borders, and include a multi-use games area, 2G hockey pitch, 3G sports pitch, 100m synthetic running track, 300m grass track and gym.

There will be a number of other facilities within the campus, which will be open to the community, such as classrooms, rural skills area, flexible hall space that can be used for multiple activities such as community events, sport, dance or drama classes and cafe.

Can you provide more information on the flexible hall space and what it can cater?

  • there are 148 tiered seats and floor space for a further 150 seats
  • there will be a stage available for productions which is demountable
  • there will be sound/lighting and vision system which can be used by the community

Will all the facilities be available for the community to use?

Yes, charity Live Borders will proactively manage community access to the Campus.

Why will Live Borders be managing community access to the Campus?

The charity has a track record in driving sports and culture participation, with the team not only managing the sport and community bookings but working collaboratively to deliver a programme that will aim to tackle health inequalities and develop pathways for sport and physical activity.

At Kelso High School, Live Borders have welcomed almost 42k people from a variety of community and sports groups to the facility since taking over community access to the site in August 2018.

Will the current and existing users of facilities in Jedburgh have their bookings honoured in the campus?

Current users of community facilities in Jedburgh such as sports and community groups, will be invited to meet Live Borders and discuss their requirements.

Will there be sports equipment available to use within the flexible hall spaces?

Yes. Groups and clubs can also bring their own equipment with prior agreement.

Will the community be able to book facilities during school hours?

Yes. Some facilities may not be available to book initially as we settle pupils and staff into their new surroundings.

What about other groups who would like to start using the campus?

Ahead of the opening of the campus, the wider community will also have an opportunity to establish what space is available for booking.

Can I book one of the facilities now?

Details on opening times, classes and booking opportunities will be announced soon.

What are the opening hours?

The hours are being finalised and will be communicated in advance of the campus opening.

Why is there not a 400m running track?

We examined the possibility of including a 400m grass running track on campus at the design phase but the cost was prohibitive.

Due to constraints at this site, 300m is the maximum length the track could be. However, after discussions with the Grammar School we believe it will meet the requirements for use by their summer athletics programme, and be of use to local athletics groups.

There will also be a 100m synthetic track.

Will public transport be provided from the town centre to the campus?

We are currently in discussions with the community about supporting a new community led transport project which would aim to provide a link from the town centre to the campus.

We are in discussions with the bus operator to amend the current timetable so that services which currently serve the Grammar School will serve the new campus when it opens.
