Apply for a school or early years place
Early learning and childcare is provided for children aged three until they start primary school. Depending on your income, you may also be eligible for funded childcare if your child is two years old.
You can apply for a school or early years place for children once you arrive in the Scottish Borders. Your catchment school will be happy to answer any questions you have about our education system and discuss any concerns you have.

Childcare
If your child isn’t old enough to have a funded early years placement, or you’re not eligible for a two year old placement, you can find information about child minders and nurseries.
This includes information about breakfast clubs, holiday clubs and after school clubs.
Learning English
Borders College offers English classes for adults living in the Scottish Borders for whom English is not the first language.You can study at a range of levels, from beginners through to SCQF Level 5. You can visit their website for more information.
The Open University also have a range of online resources available to you, and there are freely available apps and websites that’ll help you start to learn English:
