In the Scottish Borders we welcome people seeking a safe place to live in our communities. We want to reach out to all our Ukrainian residents and their hosts, family and friends.
Statement of support
Our Councillors have expressed their horror at the events in Ukraine and the suffering and devastation being inflicted on the Ukrainian people by an unjustified, ongoing and brutal act of war. Our thoughts and prayers are with the residents of Ukraine and other nearby Eastern European countries at what continues to be a difficult time.
We are also aware that there are individuals here in the Borders who have family and other close contacts in the region, and our thoughts are with them also.
We continue to receive many offers of support from the wider community and these are greatly appreciated. Our thanks also go to those households who have offered to act as hosts for individuals and families, particularly for all they are doing to support those who have arrived in the Borders.
