Scottish Milk and Healthy Snack Scheme
Providers of childcare for children under school age, who are registered with the Care Inspectorate as either a Childminder or a Day Care of Children Service, are invited to register with us for the Scottish Milk and Healthy Snack Scheme.
Information on the scheme can be found on the Scottish Government website. Please make sure you have read this before completing the registration form.
It is not possible to save the registration form as you go along, please make sure that you have the following information available before you start:
- Care Inspectorate registration number
- Copy of the most recent bank statement
- Bank account details, bank name, bank account name, account number and sort code
- The number of eligible children enrolled with you at present
- Anticipated number of eligible children for the following April (If you do not know this then please enter unknown)
- How many weeks you are open during a school year (August to July)
- How many sessions you offer a week
- The number of portions you would expect to provide daily (Monday to Friday) based on your current eligible children

Once you have completed and submitted the form, you are required to email the following documents to EarlyYearsTeamEd@scotborders.gov.uk
- Care Inspectorate Registration Certificate
- Most recent bank statement (no more than three months old), for the account the funding is to be paid into
Once Registered, you will be expected to provide estimated numbers of portions on a termly basis so you can be paid in advance for the scheme.
For monitoring and payment purposes you will be expected to keep a record of the actual number of portions provided as we will ask for this at the next termly payment so adjustments can be made if there has been more or less portions provided than the estimated figure.
The daily payment rate per eligible child is a flat rate of 0.582
