Kelso will host the start and finish of Stage 1 of the 2024 Tour of Britain on Tuesday 3 September.
The Tour of Britain attracts some of the world’s top cyclists, including Olympic, World and Commonwealth champions and the Scottish Borders has hosted successful stage starts and finishes over a number of years, including in Kelso town centre in 2017 and 2019.
This year, Kelso will host both the Stage 1 start and finish, with the entire route in the Borders. The race will also pass through the finish line in Kelso at the start of a loop before returning for the sprint finish.
What you can do to support the Tour of Britain
- Open your business and consider offering discounts or promotions on Tuesday 3 September - the town centre will likely be very busy from the stage start throughout the day until the finish. You can log offers online and these will be promoted on the borders.co.uk website and social media channels
- Display Tour of Britain posters on your premises
- Dress your window in the Tour of Britain colour themes (red/ white/ blue) and/or cycling theme. Please note entries for the window dressing competition have now closed.
- Share social media posts promoting the event.

Three businesses will receive Greatest Hits Radio (Scottish Borders and North Northumberland) advertising packages worth over £500 each through our window display competition.
