Autumn/winter vaccination programme 2023/24 Update 1 - 4.9.23
In April, The Scottish Government announced that all health and social care workers are eligible for a flu vaccination this autumn/winter. The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) have since announced that Covid-19 booster vaccinations will also be offered to frontline health and social care workers. Wherever possible, those eligible for both a flu and Covid-19 vaccine will be offered them together.
Help protect yourself and the people you care for
- All frontline social care workers are encouraged to get vaccinated to help to protect themselves, their families and the people they care for.
- As someone delivering social care or as a carer, you will be caring for many people in at-risk groups such as older people or those with an underlying health condition.
- Getting vaccinated will mean you are much less likely to spread infection to them and will help protect those you are caring for this winter.
- You can find out more in the national Flu vaccination guidance for social care workers and carers information.
Vaccination clinic details
- Drop-in clinics for staff eligible for the flu vaccination only will begin on 25 September in Ward 17, Borders General Hospital.
- Alternatively, staff can book an appointment for a flu vaccination at a community clinic via the NHS Inform portal. If you have never received a unique username (e.g. have been vaccinated through your work), or you cannot remember your login details, please visit NHS Inform portal where you can register as a new user or recover your username details.
- Drop-in clinics for staff eligible for both the flu and Covid-19 vaccinations will begin on 2 October.
NB: Anyone with suspected Covid-19 infection should not attend vaccination sessions, to avoid the risk of spreading the virus to others. If you have felt unwell, please wait until you have recovered before getting your vaccination.
